➣ Apps to Access the R.E.A.D.S. Collection
OverDrive is the classic app to access our TN R.E.A.D.S. digital collection.
The app is compatible with Android, iOS and Windows mobile devices, including Kindle Fire, Macs and PCs.
We recommend using the OverDrive app if you like to read books on many devices or prefer to browse for new titles on your computer. OverDrive also has accessibility features to help your reading experience. The app is also great if you are concerned about excluding mature content, as you are able to browse for kid’s books only and not see other titles.
Check out the Getting Started Guide for more help on downloading the app onto your device.
Libby is a new app released by overDrive. It has access to the same TN R.E.A.D.S. digital collection as the OverDrive app, but brings a new, fast and attractive digital browsing experience.
The app is compatible with Android and iOS devices, with Kindle Fire compatibility coming soon.
If you are primarily a one-device user for browsing, downloading and reading/listening to digital books, we recommend using Libby!
Something that makes Libby special is that the app allows you to use more than one library card or cards from different libraries! Libby switches easily between library cards or different libraries. The best part is that all your digital checkouts from different cards and libraries are on the same shelf, so there is no need to switch between cards/libraries to actually read your books!
➣ Apps for Other Electronic Collections
TumbleBooks gives you access to hundreds of talking, animated picture books, early readers and children’s graphic novels. TumbleBooks also has reading and math games and videos from National Geographic.
The TumbleBookLibrary app is compatible with Android and iOS devices. The app is also entirely self-contained, meaning you don’t have to worry about your child possibly navigating away in an open internet browser.
After downloading the app, select “Washington County Public Library” as your library and enter your library card number to get started!
